Space to Create

As much of South Asia experiences unprecedented heat waves, Pokhara has seen the return of daily thunderstorms and torrential downpours that reverberate up and down the colossal Annapurna valleys; the monsoon has arrived!

Meanwhile, Varsha and I continue our work to expand and professionalise Black Kite Coffee. After months of searching, this week saw us finally deciding on a place to ‘set up shop;’ somewhere prestigious enough but within budget. We’ve chosen a small ‘shutter’ that, with a little imagination, could easily be converted into a trendy micro-coffee-bar. Opposite a new bank and training centre, it will allow customers to come and try our coffee whilst answering their emails or chatting with a friend. It sits right next to a main ‘chowk’ or meeting point in the neighbourhood and a stone’s throw from Green Pastures mission hospital.

Our next job is to get busy creating the coffee bar ‘look and layout’ and figure out exactly where to put a 3kg batch roaster when it arrives in July!

Pictured this week are Varsha and Revarti, ‘our friend with a designer’s touch,’ imagining a future coffee bar.
