Merry Christmas from Black Kite Coffee!

What a year it has been!

At the beginning of 2024, the vision for Black kite Coffee was just that, a vision and a very small business operating out of a kitchen on a small microwave-size roaster. Fast forward to December and what a difference a year makes! Our sales are already exceeding our expectations and feedback about our coffee has been really encouraging. We are so thankful to Passion Ventures, without whom, none of what has been achieved so far would have been possible.

So what has been achieved so far? Well, for starters, we can now roast up to three kilograms of coffee in one batch on our imported Indian-made roaster; quite a difference to 400g per batch! We now have a warm and welcoming micro coffee shop, from which we sell our newly branded bags of coffee beans and a range of drinks and snacks.  Fitted out with mango wood and metal tables, shelving and a coffee bar, it is situated right in the heart of Nayagaun in Pokhara, near to the international Green Pastures Hospital.

Nayagaun has quite a mix of expats and locals, due in part to the work of International Nepal Fellowship at the hospital. Christian doctors, medical staff and teachers come from all over the world to work here. This Christmas, we have enjoyed meeting and serving friends old and new, like families such as the Maharjans (pictured). As doctors, Mr and Mrs Maharjan were previously involved in running the hospital. The family now live and work in the capital, Kathmandu and are pictured catching up with Varsha on a recent surprise Christmas visit.

We are excited that Black Kite already has a great support base and look forward to expanding our community in 2025.

Merry Christmas from the Black Kite Coffee team!
