The Dream Becomes Real - Let the Roasting Begin!

After many months of researching and decision making, the new Black Kite Coffee roaster has arrived from India! Watching five men wearing sandals and with no lifting equipment manhandle an expensive and resolutely heavy machine from the back of a precariously parked truck, certainly took a few months off our life expectancy, but it is here and it is in our ‘soon to be constructed’ roastery and coffee bar. 

For the last couple of years, we have been roasting on an American made home roaster, the Behmor 2020. This restricts us to a maximum of 400g at a time. The new machine can handle up to 3kg at a time, and should afford us a more professional level of roast. Following recent barista training, the coming weeks will see us receiving further training from Nepali coffee professional Krishna Magar, a competition winner with his own micro-roastery.
