Glimpses of Tourist Season

Early September brought signs of tourist season but it was still a bit slow in the transition to the height of the season. While the rains were still present, they weren’t nearly as pervasive as in July and August. And with less rain and more sun, the tourists started trickling into Pokhara and our cafe.

We were visited by Chinese vloggers, Brazilian families, and American ministry workers. But the most exciting development is what every new cafe wants to see: the beginning of the “regulars”: those people that come every day.

Our dream of running a cafe began years ago when we sat in many cafes over the years that were a second home to us. Those places provided both a warm cup and warm inspiration for whatever writing we were engaged in, whatever book drew us in, and whatever conversation we were having. To see people enjoying our cafe and treating it as a “second home” truly brings a sense of joy. There is trust in us to provide the same comforting experience they enjoyed every day before. We don’t take that for granted and it is a humbling reminder of what we do.

We anxiously awaited tourist season and what it might look like in the months ahead!
